Ralph Walker

A bold revival of an architectural icon, Ralph Walker: Architect of the Century took its name from a 1957 New York Times headline that dubbed Walker the “Architect of the Century” upon his receipt of the American Institute of Architects’ Centennial Medal of Honor. This monograph—and the accompanying exhibition designed with Pandiscio Co.—reintroduced New York to one of its greatest yet overlooked visionaries. Together, the book and exhibition spotlighted Walker’s profound impact on the Manhattan skyline, from the Art Deco splendor of 1 Wall Street to the revolutionary setbacks of the Barclay‑Vesey Building.

Staged inside Walker Tower during its residential conversion, the exhibition transformed a construction site into a public celebration of Walker’s legacy. The Rizzoli-published volume helped fuel a resurgence of interest in his work—cementing Walker’s place in architectural history and elevating Walker Tower to one of the city’s most sought-after addresses.

Frank Lloyd Wright himself famously praised Walker as “the only other honest architect in America,” a rare compliment that underscores the integrity behind Walker’s bold and dramatic designs.
